Design darling Derek Lam simply delivers clothes the ladies will love!
"I just think you look at them and you want to wear them. They have a real point of view. They have real style. He takes this webbing like fabric and it's just an interesting new way to give the clothes a stiffness and a shape," says Linda Wells, Editor in Chief Allure.
Dresses run the gamut from strong sleeves to strapless. A bib-like cropped top is layered over dresses. Shoulders are strong. Tummys got a lot of attention in the collection too, they're either exposed or buckled-up with a big belt.
"That big wide belt was beautiful," adds Wells.
The color combo of choice is yellow and grey with white and bold contrasting black and whites mixed in. Despite the starched effect of the fabrics there's nothing stiff about the hair do for spring.
"The hair is a structured ease and that is part of the inspiration for the collection. We are having kind of loose waves and then we are tying it back into a ponytail," says Orlando Pita Hair Stylist.
Make-up is minimal.
"I am working with nude color that you barely don't see .. foundation .. creamy finish .. and the lip a natural lip color and throwing a bit of black mascara on .. a bit of midnight blue pencil inside the eye," says, Tom Pecheux, Makeup Artist.
