Project Runway Fall 2013: Ratings and Rare Looks
A woman who wears many hats, Heidi Klum, emerges wearing many colors ... kicking off the Project Runway show at New York fashion week.
There's the show and then ... the show. The runway doesn't disappoint with an eclectic mix of plunging necklines, leather, white satin. Red safety goggles -- perfect for the gleaming snowfall on the sidewalk -- is the "it" accessory. Bravo producers hope keeping the audience in suspense about which designers are attached to which looks and who is actually a finalist on the program will be a ratings boost. This playful approach seems inspiring to the cast whose collection included some brights ... breaking away from fall earth tones.
"This is project runway season 11 lets start the show!" says Heidi Klum, judge and host.
But black and white did dominate the runway.
"They were incredibly creative. We had many flavors. They all brought their best foot forward today," says Nina Garcia, judge, Project Runway.
Their best foot and paw -- leopard scratched its way onto the scene as did rabid fans.
"I am a totally geeked out fan. I know all the players. I have watched every season," says Marilu Henner.
The fall season is sprinkled with studs and those red goggles -- were they watching playback of season 10 in there?
"One of the things that Heidi knows about this show .. the reason it's a success .. is she knows what looks good on people," Kristin Chenoweth, actress.
Pink is a pretty color on most. But not everyone can pull off having holes in their shirt or earrings bigger than their handbag.
"It's heart. It's soul. It's visual. It fires off all the senses it's got memory to it. It's everything. It's the complete package."
"There were 16 designers on season 11 -- come on out guys!" says Heidi Klum, judge, host.
Patricia Michaels, Daniel Esquivel, Samantha Black -- who steals the runway show? They all do. Who will win the tv show? That's one trend we can't predict.
