Minkoff is one of the go-to-girl designers with a flair for fun frocks but she takes on fall she took a page from guy's closets. "What I did for fall was took a lot of masculine silhouettes and did them in soft feminine colors."
There's the runway and then there's the sideshow. Rebecca Minkoff packs the house with everyone from Lucky Editor-in-Chief Eva Chen to country crooner Carrie Underwood -- even lead actresses Zosia Mamet to AnnaSophia Robb show up.
"Rebecca always does a beautiful show. I always love her dresses," says Robb.
Minkoff also gets lots of love from top model Coco Rocha who arrives gushing about the designer.
"She's a beautiful person inside and out and I love her dearly so I wanted to come and support her."
Minkoff is the go-to-girl designer with a flair for fun frocks but this fall she takes a peek into from guy's closets.
"What I did for fall was took a lot of masculine silhouettes and did them in soft feminine colors."
The palette is about extremes.
"I've been playing with lighter colors matched with brights like cream with burgundy, navy with cream," she says.
Women always wonder what next season's dress will look like -- Minkoff says there will be more metallics and lame. She takes a break from super short and gives women some coverage.
"The new silhouette dress is a longer shaped mid calf paired with a stronger jacket, " she says.
When you're not in the mood for a dress there's plenty of t-shirts and cords and it seems we all should have bulging front hall closets full of interesting outwear options.
The show includes lots of statement satchels.
"A lot of patent because I like that shine, some faux fur and some harder surfaces," adds Minkoff.
Oxblood was a hot hue for fall 2013 and it makes a comeback in Minkoff's collection.
"I wanted to do a burnt berry lip to tie back to the burgundy in the collection," she says.
The hair dos are very relatable .. tossed back with some loose pieces framing the face like so many women on the go sport when blow-outs are beyond impossible.
"Hair tied back in a ponytail as if like you didn't really care even though we did take a lot of time to do it," says Minkoff.
Makeup artist Sarah Lucero goes for the glow.
"It's glossy, very balmy skin. Very perfected. Very polished. There's a lot of references with that dark burnt berry lip -- very matte finish. Very texture rich," she says.
A few other eye-raising tips and tricks from backstage...
"On the brows, brushed up a little bushier and boxier and the brushing up kinda gives it that masculine touch," says Lucero.
Menswear influences were threaded throughout the show with tailored trousers and pinstripes. How does that suit ya?!
