Rebecca Taylor lays it on thick for fall 2014 -- layers, textures, mixing and matching.
"I love Rebecca Taylor. I love what she does. She's a cool independent American designer. She has the right balance of edgy and feminine. She never loses site of understanding how girls really want to dress and wear and what pieces they feel good putting on over and over again," says stylist Robert Verdi
Crackled leather, knits and mesh tops are some of the stand-outs. It's always fun to hear where it all began, what the first brick was that the collection's built on.
"Inspiration came from this french graffiti artist I had these beautiful subtle black and white prints. I have what I call my jigsaw coats that are like pieced together, different swirls and different textures, different colors," says Rebecca.
The collection is different for Taylor ... she steers away from the girly bright colors she's known for and hits the mute button.
"It's got a lot of icy blues, nudes, cream. It's actually quite light," she explains.
Skirts were short ... minis and flared, flippy styles. The model's hair 'dos and make-up deliberately don't compete with the clothes.
"The hair is just very simple, very clean. I just wanted the girls to feel beautiful and modern," says Taylor. "It's very important you not wear and eye with the lip. So it's like we have a nude eye and a strong lip and a strong brow."
A strong showing for Rebecca Taylor.
