The celebs were a plenty; Katie Holmes, Christina Aguilera, Nicki Minaj, Tiffany Haddish, Martha Stewart, Mary J. Blige in New York and Blake Lively and more made the scene to see the seasons hottest looks, starting with surf-inspirations "the prints, the Hawaiian flowers, the neoprene, the colors. Everybody's had an interpretation of that." said Elle's Editor in Chief, Nina Garcia.
The stand out however, "is really going to be about the dress." And we concur, we've seen it every which way for next Spring; long, short, pleated, printed, asymmetrical and full of color.
Alice + Olivia designer, Stacey Bendet says neon was really important for her. "A little nod to the '80s in a really feminine and sexy way and I started kind of popping these neon yellows into all my prints."
And while color is abound, white is really the new black, "almost like the palate cleanser" said Garcia.
What else? Don't get rid of those sneaks or your favorite flats as the athletic trend is continuing on, so too slouchy pants and sporty zip jackets.
Finally, Harper's Bazaar's Avril Graham notes the whole cultural shift to fashion; "We're seeing larger sizes. We're seeing that sort of mixes of the sexes. I think it's great. It just shows you that fashion always looks forward, never looks back."
