What better way to celebrate your 10th anniversary than with a line of glamorous 1950s-inspired vacation-worthy pieces? Thakoon's Spring 2015 designs transport everyone, from actress Caitlin Fitzgerald to Orange is the New Black star Taylor Schilling, to a fashion oasis at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
Silky and luxurious robes, tunics and flowy dresses in floral prints and polka dots are among the runway highlights to pack in your suitcase for Spring.
"I think his clothes are beautiful, and they're wearable and still feel kind of edgy, fun and different," says Fitzgerald.
When it comes to hair and makeup, the models look as if they just took a dip in the ocean.
"I was really looking at the idea of creating the look of a woman coming out of the water, in slow motion," says the designer, "You see the water sort of washing through the eyes, washing through the hair, and [there is] a slick kind of feeling."
To complete the fresh-out-the-ocean look, manicures create the illusion of water passing through the nails.
"We wanted a shimmer, so we decided to do a beautiful bronze shimmer nail," says Morgan Taylor's Lead Manicurist Gina Edwards, "We did one coat of color and two coats of Make it Last, which is a high gloss, and then we did Need for Speed. So we did three coats to make it super, super shiny."
The makeup creates the effect of sunlight reflecting off a damp face. "We're just doing clear gloss on the lids and up into the brow bone," says makeup artist Diane Kendal, "Just really emphasizing that kind of reflective quality of water on the face."
