Trina Turk Tweed-Tastic for Fall 2013
Print princess Trina Turk's bold fall fashions bring a little West Coast sunshine to snowy New York.
"We were inspired by California modernism. We are doing a lot of deep rich color .. teals, purples, berries ... lots of texture .. some lamb leather .. chunky sweaters and lots of prints which is really our signature," says Trina Turk.
The models decked in colorful cardigans are highly accessorized with neck scarfs and brimmed hats. Even pants are printed.
"My favorite print is called the tweed collage. It's a photo print of tweed. It's not actually a tweed fabric. It's really beautiful," says Turk.
The tweed-tastic look covers coats and sweaters. With such busy fabrics it's no wonder the hair and makeup is not overdone.
"We did a little bit of a russet color around the eye but pretty clean and pretty natural makeup. We felt with the strong brim of the hat and the scarf around the neck we didn't want to have a very strong lip," says Turk.
Turk makes green looks really new in leather but the hair dos are inspired by images of the past.
"It's a quite beautiful, simple, look it's about clean chic 1962 Harper's Bazaar covers," says Martin-Christopher Harper, stylist.
Also a staple of the 60s - turtlenecks are trending at Turk.
Berry sometimes made room for black but it was primarily about stepping out of the fall classics and making more modern choices.
