Life can be complicated, but there are ways to limit the chaos and feel more at ease. Here are some of our favorite tips you can take today to help simplify your life.
Cut Down on Stuff
Having excess things only adds to more stress. Clean the clutter around your house and only keep necessities. If you have duplicates of something, throw one out or donate the extra one. To avoid accumulating more stuff, shop less. If you carry a purse, keep it compact, taking only necessary items.
Avoid Overbooking Your Schedule
Being busy may be viewed today as a good thing, but it can be draining. Be selective with the activities and events you choose to do. Set boundaries by designating time for yourself. Do not be afraid to say no to invitations.
Clear Your Mind
With so much going on in our lives, we often forget to take a break to give our brains a rest. Make a conscious decision to set aside a few minutes during the day to meditate or go for a walk to clear your head.
Plan for Your Day
There is nothing worse than being unprepared for the day. Make your morning more manageable, and set the tone for the rest of the day by planning. It can include laying out your clothes the night before or meal prepping for the upcoming week.
Declutter Your Electronics
Digital clutter can be as detrimental to our inner peace as physical stuff. Delete old emails, clear any open tabs, clean off your desktop on your computer, and remove pictures, texts and apps from your phone that you do not need.
Limit Screen Time
There is so much noise online, so it is essential not to spend too many hours surfing the web or scrolling through social media. Turn off unnecessary notifications on your phone or put it in airplane mode. Ditch electronics an hour before bedtime to help prepare your body to unwind and fall asleep more easily.
Focus on One Task
In a generation of multitasking, it can be particularly challenging to focus on and accomplish just one goal. Tackle one task at a time. Write a to-do list to help clarify what needs to be done and batch similar assignments together to help knock out multiple things you need to do in a row.
