Her advice may have seemed superfluous and annoying at times. But Mom was right about many things, and here are just a few.
Wash Your Hands
Germs from unwashed hands can get into the body and make us sick. Wet, lather, and scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds, about the same timeframe it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice.
Eat Your Veggies
A vegetable-rich diet can reduce blood pressure and heart disease and prevent some forms of cancer. It also helps regulate blood sugar, which can help keep weight in check.
Be Kind
Not only does empathy help others, but it cultivates meaningful relationships, helps us work more effectively, and improves our own well-being.
Sit Up Straight
Good posture benefits your physical and mental health. It puts less stress on your joints and bones and can help you stay focused and improve your mood.
Cleanse Your Face Before Bed
It helps prevent the buildup of dirt and oil. That buildup can cause bacteria overgrowth—leading to inflammation, dryness, and premature aging.
