DIY Home Makeovers with Brian Kelsey
The Kelsey on the House star's tips and tricks to give any room a facelift
"Tools are where it all begins," says Brian, "If you have the wrong tools, you are not going to do the job correctly." Brian's tool of choice is the Dremel Ultra-Saw 3-in-1. "I love it because it's powerful, it's light, and it cuts through everything, and you don't need a lot of different tools," he says. Use it to cut through metal, plastic, plexiglass and wood.
Use the Dremel Ultra-Saw 3-in-1 to replace broken tile. Just trim around the grout, pop out the tile and replace it with a new one. And don't forget to snap a picture if you're working with your dad. Dremel is offering a chance to win $5,000 on their Facebook page -- just upload a picture of your dad to enter.
Brian suggests taking an old mirror and painting over it. He took one with a gold finish and painted on a light coat of Peacock blue. Make sure the gold still comes through for a cool effect.
Finish the Job with Accessories
Brian says you can top off any home project with fun and unique accessories. He found great pillows from Kohl's for just $24.99. "They're perfect," he says, "Pillows can change a room instantly." Try them in different colors to accent any room.
Brian says vintage Mason jars are fantastic, cheap, and you can do all sorts of things with them. "You can group them together, you can put some drinks in there, or you can put flowers in there or any kind of shells," he says. The little elements really add character and make your room pop.
