Tips to make parents' lives a little easier
From the LifeMinute team
Listen up, Moms and Dads, sending your kids off to school with healthy, satisfying lunches -- and completed homework -- can be easier than you think. Here are some helpful tips.
Revolutionizing Lunch Ideas
Founded by two moms, Revolution Foods' mission is to get healthy foods back into our kids' schools; they just celebrated serving their 100th healthy meal and are now bringing hearty lunches to your local grocer. The Revolution Foods Meal Kits are natural, using only high-quality ingredients with no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Each kit is packed with at least 7 grams of protein, whole grains and one serving of fruit. Plus, we're talking about real food here, so that means real cheese without nitrates that you find in other deli meats. Meal Kit options include Ham and Cheddar, Turkey and Cheddar, and Cheese Pizza, each available for about $3.49 to $3.99. Also included in every kit--a great educational game to keep kids entertained. Find the Meal Kits in your refrigerated deli section of your grocer, nationwide at Safeway and select Target stores, and a host of other retailers. Check out the store locator at revolutionfoods.com to find a store near you.
Satisfying Snacks
To keep kids satisfied in the snack department, prepare a delicious fruit salad at the beginning of the week. Buy a bunch of fresh fruit, chop it up and place it into individual containers to be stored in the refrigerator. That way, when the kids get home from school and open the refrigerator, their healthy treat or great meal kit is ready to grab and go.
Homework Helper
To make your routine a little easier, organize homework in a fun way. Buy some baskets and make them "homework baskets," labeled with your child's name on the outside. Get creative with it! When the kids come home from school, write the due date on their homework and have them place it in the baskets. Once they finish that homework, it goes from basket to backpack so that you can keep track of which homework has been completed.
