There is something to be said about having a sibling but did you know it could shape your very being. In honor of National Sibling Day here are some stats about having a brother and or sister and what it can mean.

The oldest have an intellectual advantage
Research shows that firstborn children outperform their younger siblings on cognitive tests starting from infancy. This could be due to first-time parents giving their first and only child the most mental stimulation.

The youngest are the most aggressive
The baby of the brood tends to be the most aggressive, rebellious and extroverted.

Fighting is normal
Research shows siblings experience  bullying from other siblings as early as age 8.

Parents have a favorite
Research revealed that 65% of mothers and 70% of fathers show a preference for one child over another.

Tragedy leads to greater bond
A loss of a parent or fights between mom and dad can create a deeper bond between siblings.

You’re more likely to get dates
Those with siblings have better knowledge of the likes and dislikes of the opposite sex and our better at striking up a conversation with them.

Less likely to get divorced
A study found that having siblings makes you less likely to get divorced.
