"Instant lift" pieces like a touchless faucet or bacteria fighting countertops to help you easily entertain this holiday

From the LifeMInute team
The holidays are just around the corner and that means lots of cooking and gatherings galore. If you're looking for easy and affordable ways to spice up the most popular room in the house, Home Design Expert, Elizabeth Mayhew shared some of the latest and greatest in kitchen design trends.
An easy way to give your kitchen an instant pop is a fantastic faucet. Mayhew says its like the "jewelry in your kitchen." Kohler has a new one called Sensate Touchless. It has an on/off sensor, so with a wave of your hand, it allows you to flow through tasks without worrying about spreading the mess and germs to the rest of the kitchen. Genius!
Another great update is your sink. Think of the style you want, keep in mind: the depth, shape and number of bowls, which should depend on how you work in your kitchen.
A popular design, the Apron-front sink (aka farmhouse sink) . Until recently, adding one to your kitchen meant replacing both cabinetry and countertops, but Kohler has solved that problem. Check out their Whitehaven Self-trimming Apron-front sink, a 7-inch apron, an ideal retrofit option made of enameled cast iron (comes in 16 different colors). And their Strive Stainless sink is great if thats more your style. Stainless steel is still hot as ever.
Now for countertops -- go for one that's not only beautiful, but also functional and will stand the test of time. We found Silestone, the leading natural quartz brand by Cosentino. It's naturally non-porous and never needs to be sealed which means simple care and maintenance. It's easy to clean and has high scratch, stain and heat resistance plus built-in antimicrobial protection that actually fights bacteria, mold and mildew, which is amazing.
Comes in more than 70 colors including two new collections. Nebula Code, five colors inspired by the appearance of natural stone and brilliantly colored veining throughout the surface-- that never repeats. And the Ocean Series which features six stunning colors that offer a natural aesthetic similar to exotic granite.
Other simple pick me ups? Try a cabinetry hardware update, or paint the walls with a unique color. Even a rug in your kitchen, or unique lighting can make a huge impact.
