Summer BBQ's Kicked Up A Notch
'Tis the season for summer entertaining. Kris Schoels, editor in chief of youngmarriedchic.com shared some simple tips to taking your summer bash or BBQ to the next level!
1. Cocktails are key - choose wisely
Everyone knows that cocktails are the most important part of a party. You want something that's light, refreshing, but easy to serve. Right now Kris is loving Mike's Hard Lemonade, the original hard lemonade because it's such a refreshing option for everyone. Many have tried to copy it but you can't equal its taste.
Kris says, "It's unique because Mike's uses real lemon juice for that authentic lemonade flavor that gives you that extra kick."
And if you're serving a large group they have a ton of other flavors...black cherry, cranberry, new strawberry lemonade and a summer seasonal pink lemonade. Serve it all up in a great big ice bucket, very decorative and it looks really pretty when people come inside. Plus they can grab their own cocktail that way you're not busy making them.
2. Think outside the typical hamburger and hot dog fare
Kris like to serve up grilled pizzas. You can do homemade dough or just take something store bought. It cooks up really fast. She also likes to grill up veggies.
"I find that for me peppers hold up really nice on the grill so that's one of my favorites to put on there."
Looking for something sweeter, how about fruit skewers on the grill. Kris says, "You can do anything from watermelon, pineapple and actually peaches hold up really really well."
3. End on a sweet note
Kris likes to set up an ice-cream toppings bar..."It's perfect for the warm summer months but what you do is bring the ice-cream out at the very end and have your toppings all set up before your guests arrive." So everything looks really nice and the hard work is already done.
