BCBGMAXAZRIA Spring 2013 Collection Celebrates The Femme Fatal
The BCBCGMAXAZRIA Spring 2013 fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was a naughty but nice mix of feminine textures with seductive accents, such as harnesses, leather and lace. "We really wanted to bring out that femme fatale. You know, the idea of woman and her inner strength, her poise and her sexuality worn on her sleeve. That was really important for us," says BCBG designer Lubov Azria. "Black and white are the two anchor colors that we used throughout, but we also used pale blush, coral and chambray blues. We wanted to use patina colors. We wanted things that work and didn't stand out too much," says the designer. To spice up this very wearable palette and feminine silhouettes, the designers used suggestive harnesses and boudoir accents of leather and lace. "Lubov was talking about how she felt the harness was important because women were always in a harness. She wanted to portray something that was sexy and powerful, but not too in your face," says Joanna Coles, the newly appointed Editor In Chief of Cosmopolitan. Despite the suggestive tones of these features, the overall feeling was more soft and sexy than S&M. "Max and his wife have a unique way to represent the young woman of today," says actress Dania Ramirez who sat in the front row. "I love Lubov and Max and I'm a huge fan of what they do every season. They make really beautiful clothes so I'm always excited to see what they bring to the catwalk," says model Selita Ebanks who also attended the fashion show. "It's just fun. It's our form of going to a museum. It's like we're going to see what we appreciate as art," says fan/fellow designer Whitney Port.
