Fashion's Night Out Turned NYC Into One Giant Shopping Party
Forget about bar hopping. Fashion's Night Out is all about boutique hopping. On the first night of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, more than 700 stores in New York City stayed open late, offering savvy shoppers and aspiring fashionistas face-time with big name designers, fancy cocktails, great music, and of course, a lot of fashion. "We are thrilled to participate in Fashion's Night Out. It's just a great way to celebrate the industry and the designers within it, the creativity and just the passion that people have for fashion and what it brings to life," says Jennifer Gosselin, Senior Vice President of Piperlime, which opened it's first-ever retail store in SoHo. Guest editor Rachel Zoe was on hand to give shoppers fall trend tips while listening to the beats of Rev Fun + DJ Ruckus. You could have also gotten great shoe advice from fashion designer Michael Kors and Vogue editrix Anna Wintour, who were hobnobbing with shoppers at Macy's, home of the biggest shoe floor. "How about this shoe floor, it's unbelievable. It's fantastic," enthused Kors. Fashion's Night Out was also the perfect stage for new designers to make a grand entrance into the world of retail. "This is my first Fashion's Night Out so I am really excited that we are launching Tsu.ya Activewear here at Lord & Taylor," says Kristi Yamaguchi, Olympic gold medalist and founder of Tsu.ya. The store was also buzzing on the beauty level, where Kim Kardashian drew a huge crowd to launch her new fragrance, True Reflection, and signed the first 300 bottles sold.
