How To Get Casual Chic Hair At Derek Lam Spring 2013

Ever wonder how hairstylists manage to work on so many models with varied hair types to make their hair look perfectly chic for the catwalk? They rely on the right products. "We're using the Phyto line of products, which is great because we have many different hair types at this show," said Orlando Pita, lead hairstylist for the Derek Lam Spring 2013 fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. "Let's say if we have a model who has fine hair, then we'd use the Volume Mousse and the Finishing Spray. Then if it's somebody who has more textured hair, we'd use the Phyto De-Frizz Spray and 7 Cream. It's like putting moisturizer in the hair. It goes into your hair, doesn't feel greasy and it just tames away all the dry ends. It's quite a large varied line that we can attack all different hair types and make a uniform look at the end," he explained.

The hair look for the Derek Lam Spring 2013 was very easy and wearable. "It's a side part and then it gets tucked behind the ears. It's something that somebody can do at home, and that's exactly what Derek wanted. He didn't want hair that looks too fussed over," Pita told us.
