Men's Ready-To-Wear Review: Duckie Brown Spring 2013 Fashion Show
"Dark denim, black leather, red tartan and cream--it's a tough collection. It's muscular. It's not wafty. It's not easy. It's not breezy. It's much more rough and ready," says designer Daniel Silver of his latest Duckie Brown Spring 2013 ready-to-wear collection revealed at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. "It's a very tight color palette. It's a very tight fabric palette. It's basically dark denim, bleached denim, which have done in our way so it's a kind of high-end denim. It's beautiful Japanese denim and we've done it in some really interesting pieces. And then we did red tartan from Scotland and cream and that is It," says fellow designer Steven Cox. To enhance the punky rough and tumble look of the clothes, some of the models hands were painted with intricate and colorful tattoos. "What we are doing today is a combo of beauty and edge. So we wanted to accessorize without using accessories, so that's where the tattoos came in," says makeup artist Ralph Siciliano. As for hair, the models sported ultra-slicked down deep side parts. "We decided to do something quite slick, quite '50s, but take it to another level where it's really really shiny, almost as if its wet," says hairstylist Martin Cullen
