Nanette Lepore Spring 2013 - Pumped Up Pastels
Bold colors, fun prints and a lot of green made Nanette Lepore's Spring 2013 fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week the perfect mix of graphic and girlie.
"The colors are pumped up pastels and the patterns and prints are taken from traditional porcelain and toiles and blown up into crazy proportions and colors and then etched in black. A lot of illusion in the fabrics being organza," the designer told us. It was a very tight collection also mixing up hints of neon, gingham and stripes.
While the clothes were a perfectly messy mix of prints, textures and fabrics, the beauty look was quite simple--a good thing to avoid eye candy overload. "The thing was to just give them like nothing. They are blank with a bit of black eyeliner and a shot of color across their eyes. Hair is like a messy kind of ponytail that just looks more casual," explained Lepore of how they created the models makeup and hairstyles.
The collection was spot on for stylish Young Hollywood starlets. "I'm just a huge Nanette Lepore fan. I love all of her clothes. They are always so much fun," said actress Abigail Breslin. Other front-row A-listers: Jay Manuel, June Ambrose, Edie Falco
