Designer Pamella Roland's Spring 2013 fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was inspired by iconic American artist Ellsworth Kelly. Her ready-to-wear collection, much like Kelly's work, was mostly all black and white with very clean, geometric shapes. "It's a lot of simple lines. A lot of black and white. We have some bursts of color, of yellow and royal blue," said the designer. "Silhouettes are going to be very sleek, very modern, very streamlined. We used raw silk, silk file," she adds. What's her suggested must-have of the collection? "The caftan. They're still big and it's an amazing piece of walking art. We also have an amazing simple black dress that just has a little bit of white on it. I think that's a must-have also," Shopping on a budget? No worries. "You can have one dress and with accessories, make it look different," suggests Rolland. The beauty look featured a very simple, graphic cat eye, created by Matin Maulawizada, Global Artistry Director for Laura Mercier, who described the look as "a mlange of 1906s glamour and Pamella Roland's clean, geometric aesthetic that can be worn with ease by the modern woman." He achieved the look by drawing a thick upward wing with the new Laura Mercier Artist's Luxe Liquid Liner ($125, available October 2012). Spotted in the front row: June Ambrose, Jay Manuel, Ramona Singer from The Real Housewives of New York City.
