Rebecca Taylor Spring 2013 Does The 3 C's: Clean, Crisp, Cool
Rebecca Taylor polished up her usual bohemian style to show a more urban, streamlined look for her Spring 2013 fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. "This spring I wanted it to feel very modern, but still feminine and polished. There are just pops of color, like this beautiful hibiscus coral I call Hawaii 5-0. I also have this very beautiful textured cotton linen tweed that we've frayed all the edges on," Taylor told us. For the beauty look, the designer wanted the models to look they had "just been on a road trip in a car with the windows down, so it's a little bit windswept and little bit of texture at the ends," she said. "The makeup also is very natural, very tonal. There's no real bright colors," added Taylor.
Need a spring trend that'll take you from day to night? Try a jumpsuit, of which she had several pieces. "You can wear it to the office with a ballet flat or with a cute espadrille or a sandal, but then for going out you can put on a really high shoe and some makeup," suggested Taylor. "I always come to Rebecca's show because she designs the most beautiful, elegant, feminine, but also edgy pieces," said fashion journalist Louise Roe. Other front row sightings: Blue Blood's Sami Gayle with celebrity stylist Robert Verdi and Smash's Katharine McPhee.
