National New York Day is September 21st. The Empire State is home to 20.4 million people, making it the fourth most populous state. It became the 11th state when it achieved statehood in 1788. The capital of New York is Albany, but New York City is its biggest city, with an estimated 8.5 million people residing there.

New York is bordered by Canada and Lake Ontario in the north; Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the Atlantic Ocean in the south; Lake Erie in the west; and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont in the east, making it a central location. There are several places to visit, including Niagara Falls, the Adirondacks, the Catskills, the Finger Lakes, the Hamptons, and of course, New York City.
