Dogsledding
Dogsledding dates back 4,000 years and you can still do it today. Book a tour at the “sled dog capital of the country” at Wintergreen Dogsled Lodge in Ely, Minnesota or in other states like Maine and Montana. 

Join an Ice Hockey Team
If you are looking for a team sport turn to a hockey league. There are several amateur hockey associations around the country to get involved with. Find one here.

Rent a Snowmobile
The cold weather jet ski of land is a way to get some high-speed fun in the winter months. There are over 1.1 million registered snowmobiles in the U.S. so tons to rent and trails from Vermont to Colorado. Find one to rent by you here.

Take the Polar Bear Plunge
Polar Bear Plunges, where participants submerge in the ocean or other bodies of cold water are unexpectedly popular. They also help fundraise for good causes such as the Special Olympics. So get freezing for a reason at one of the events across the country and also virtually.

If you want to warm up, but still love the winter wonderland scenery try a hot spring. These hot mineral waters can be found in many states from Virginia to Colorado. Look up the closest one to you here.
