Sure, Fall 2015 Fashion Week is right around the corner, but you still have Winter to get through. So take a quick crash course -- courtesy of Avril Graham, Executive Fashion & Beauty Editor for Harper's BAZAAR -- on how to take recent runway looks and start incorporating them into your beauty routine right now.
Trend #1: Black is the New Black
Black is back...or had it never left? "It's been an interesting season for hair and makeup. It's quite a dark season as well," says Avril, "There's a ton of black. Quite somber, a little dark."
Trend #2: Find Inspiration in your Fruit Bowl
Think very berry in terms of a beauty color scheme. "Still a lot of dark cranberries and plums on the runway," observes Avril. To kick it up a notch, try a pop of crimson.
Trend #3: Grin and Bear It
Anyone can pull off cat eyes, but BEAR eyes...? "We saw the most fabulous face. Big panda eyes," says Avril. So break out a shadowy palette and play some Ring-Around-The-Eye, light touch recommended.
Trend #4: Be a Drama Queen
Winter is no time to be a wallflower -- the best in beauty is dramatic AND deliberate. Avril explains, "You know, sometimes I love to see a very editorialized look on the runway because that's what we're dealing with for the beauty pages. So it's kind of nice sometimes to see that sort of drama." And what place on the face is most dramatic this season? According to Avril, "There's still drama with the lip going on."
Trend #5: Rock some Heavy Metal
The gold standard for nails this winter is...well, gold. "Lots of gold actually on the nails, I noticed," Avril observes, "A lot of metallic. Metallic silver and gold."
Trend #6: The Only Constant is Change
Spring and Fall have all the fun when it comes to the runway. What does that mean for Winter? "So it's that season where we're changing around," says Avril, "One minute it's nude, the next minute it's dark or black."
So, rather than try to keep up with the beauty changes this season, embrace them all and use right now as a time for experimentation. No doubt once you've aced your signature beauty look for Winter, Spring will have sprung.
