NYFW Spring 2014 / Vera Wang: She's So Transparent
It's very clear why Vera Wang has such longevity in the fashion business

Vera Wang is so transparent. And we mean that in a good way! Her spring collection is sheer genius.
"It was about art and athletics ... matching the body inside the garment and the whole collection was about movement but there was still a great respect and inspiration about art," says the designer.
Silky slips are layered over with see-through and mesh materials. Hemlines were asymmetrical adding to the dancing fabrics. Palazzo pants peek out from under tops with trains.
"The makeup we focused very much on the cheek and the face and the quality of the skin of these girls," says Wang.
But while their faces don't carry much color, the clothes do ... hues of red, blue and yellow plus her signature blacks and whites. An overall sporty vibe adds edge to counterbalance the whispy, femininity on the evening gowns.
"For the hair it was meant to be athletic and very controlled. In sports you really can't have the hair in your face so it was really about pushing the hair away from your face," says Wang.
And Wang scores big when she adds exciting details like feathers.
"It was fabulous. OMG it was so beautiful. I love the flowy capes. It was typical Vera. It started out very edgy and then became flowy and feminine. It was beautiful," says Giuliana Rancic E! News.
