It was flashbulb-popping red carpet cacophony outside Pamella Roland, in stark contrast to the serene scene inside where Roland's gorgeous and striking designs glided down the runway in a tranquil palette of creamy whites and nudes, blush pinks and silvery gray-lavenders.
Actress Garcelle Beauvais says of the designer, "Oh my goodness, I love this woman. I love her designs, I love [how she] embraces women's curves and makes beautiful dresses."
Equally excited to see the collection was actress Cara Santana, "I'm a huge fan of Pamella's clothes...feminine and chic, but also with a little bit of edge, which is totally my style."
Pamella Roland explains, "The inspiration is the Zen gardens of Kyoto. I lived in Japan for a while, and I really always loved going to the Zen gardens...and that's how I look at this collection. The fabrics are amazing."
The drama is in the details, both shimmering and sheer...embellished shift dresses, daringly deep V necklines, graceful gowns aflutter with fabric, with the hair and makeup also drawing upon Japanese muses.
Makeup Artist Matin says, "The whole inspiration for the collection was 'cherry blossom.' It's a nod to [the] Japanese geisha look."
"It's essentially 'fierce warrior' in the front, balanced with 'soft beauty geisha' in the back," adds Hair Stylist Peter Gray, describing the smooth low ponytail created for the models.
Simply summed up by Celebrity Stylist Robert Verdi, "These are dramatic, fabulous, entrance-making, head-turning dresses for women who have places to go."
