Yigal Fall 2015

Get in line in Fall 2015 with Yigal's minimalist collection

The look at Yigal was sleek and chic, clean and controlled, in a modern minimalist collection dominated by blacks, creams and soft beiges. Silhouettes were body-skimming and ultra linear with half-moon patterns and sharply geometric cutouts creating an aesthetic that is as simple as it is sophisticated.

The beauty concept for the show was similarly bare and blunt, yet utterly fresh, as Makeup Artist Benjamin Puckey explains, "The focus is on the eye. The skin is very fresh and natural, and with a little bit of contour and highlights. We brushed the brows up with a liquid, with a brow gel. We lined the eyes with a cream liner and created the shape using a liner brush with a cream liner. We applied mascara to the top lashes only."

And, refreshingly, it's a runway look that's easy to recreate at home. Puckey recommends switching out the liquid or cream liner for a softened pencil which can be used as a base for a smoky eye or blended with other colors. He adds, of the eye look, "It's like a half circle which you also see in the patterns of the looks that Yigal created. There are lots of lines and half-circles, if you look at the collection."

To achieve a very straight and linear look for the hair, Hair Stylist James Pecis explains, "The looks are a little bit more controlled. We're using a product by Oribe called the Maximista to really get the hair flat on the sides and keep it controlled while the girls move. We're cutting blunt lines on their ends so everything's very controlled and clean."

The clean aesthetic in the collection and beauty concept is something Puckey expects we'll be seeing a lot more of in Fall 2015. "There's a new minimal trend. There's a lot of, like, black liner shapes going on so I definitely see this is as a big trend," he says, "And that's basically it. It's quite a simple look."
