Acai, Gogi, Resveratrol..the new "Superfruits."
It's not too late to get in shape for summer. Clinical nutritionist and Genesis Today Founder, Dr. Lindsey Duncan, responsible for transforming the bodies of Marc Jacobs and Demi Moore has the scoop on the latest 'Superfruit' craze---and what the buzz is all about. So what's all the buzz about superfruits, what are they and do they really work?
Dr. Duncan: Well you are what you eat and it's all about making the right choices. A great quick way to get in shape fast is with Superfruits...they boost your system and keep it strong.Superfruits are fruits that are packed with high amounts of antioxidants and nutrients. They were named as such because of their super powers, they are super nutritious, super potent, super efficacious. The most common are acai berry which boosts energy, hair, skin and nail growth. Goji berry elevates a happy mood, is good for the mind, memory and eye health. And resveratrol is an amazing anti ager. You can get them from supplements and juices which are the best way because they're easy to digest and start to work quickly. Genesis Today juices are made from hand picked berries from all over the world--Brazil, Mongolia, China and they're expensive to import and harvest but what's great is that we do all that work for you and sell at Wal-Mart for about $7. Drink them on the go... add yogurt and some fiber and you'll have an instant healthy snack. Add club soda to them to make a healthier soft drink. What are some myths about Superfruits such as acai?
Dr. Duncan: Well acai supports healthy weight control because it controls fatty acids, but its not a miracle weight loss ingredient. Some have touted it as such as it's not. What are some other quick and easy health/exercise tips to incorporate into our daily lifestyles?Dr. Duncan: Well its simple little things...get your sleep each night! At least 6 to 8 hours. When you wake in the morning, before you get out of bed, let gravity kick start your day. Hang your head over the side of the bed for a few moments and let the blood rush to your brain. It delivers vitamins and nutrients you need for good brain function. In the shower, alternate between hot and cold water. It stimulates the metabolism and tones the skin. And for exercise, fit walking into your day...at least 20 minutes. Be conscious of the little things you can do. Park the car a little farther in the lot so you have to walk further. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Little things over time really do work.Go to www.genesistoday.com for more info
