It’s hard to be an eternal optimist in today’s increasingly negative world. So how do you see the glass half full? Here are some simple shifts in mind and behavior that can help you shake your cynical thoughts and stay positively positive.

Appreciate the Small Things
Maybe it’s your morning cup of coffee or reading a good book before bed – focus on small things you do during your day that you find pleasure in and really enjoy them.

Mind Your Company
Surrounding yourself with positive people will put you in a better mood and give you a cheerier outlook. Alternatively, hanging around a negative crowd is also contagious.

Give Back
Volunteering or just lending a helping hand will help you see the good in the world and even in yourself and also reframe your thinking.

Practice Gratitude
If you are thankful for the things you have and your good fortune, you will have a more favorable outlook of your life. Gratitude leaves no room to focus on the bad things in life. 

Find the Silver Lining
Make a challenge out of always finding the good in a situation. If you try hard enough you can find the silver lining in even the worst outcome.

Something as simple as just smiling throughout the day can have a huge impact on you and others. A kind smile from a stranger can change your whole mood for the day.
