So you made that big New Year's resolution, but you have no idea how to follow through. Women's Health Magazine's fitness editor and author of Shape-Up Shortcuts, Jen Ator shares simple solutions to help you stick to these most popular resolutions.
Eat More Fruits and Veggies
One of the biggest resolutions is to eat better and that can be a really tough thing to do. Jen says an easy shortcut is grabbing a juice such as Evolution Fresh cold-pressed juice. The company recently did a survey and found that half of respondents wanted to consume more fruits and vegetables in 2014. This is a portable way to get in more servings of fruit and vegetables throughout your day even if you're crazy busy and on the go. You can find them in some great flavors at Starbuck or your local grocery store for about $3-5.
Stay Away from Junk Food
The best way to steer clear of fast food is to cook more at home. So stock your freezer and pantry with smarter food options that are convenient to make to avoid the temptation of takeout. "For about 100 calories per serving, Alexia French fries are a great example of this...they're 98% fat-free and made with Yukon Gold Potatoes that are roasted, not fried," says Jen. They're also going to help satisfy that craving you might have -- "letting you indulge a little bit for a fraction of the calories."
Get in Shape
Have you noticed that the gyms are packed lately? That's because a lot of people have resolved to exercise more, however you don't always have to hit the gym to get a great workout. "If you workout smarter not harder you can save time and also get those great results that you're after," says Jen. Her book Shape-Up Shortcuts: Score a HOTTER, HEALTHIER BODY in HALF THE TIME offers a series of 5-minute workouts that help to boost your metabolism in a short amount of time. Women's Health also just came out with a DVD The Next Fitness Star Power Sculpt Series, which has four workouts all less than 30 minutes that you can do at home. So you have no excuses not to get your sweat on!
Be a More Beautiful You
One of the resolutions that may get overlooked is switching up your beauty routine. A simple change can really make you look and feel healthier throughout the New Year. Jen loves an affordable and easy solution such as Pantene Pro-V Detox collection. It's a four-step system that works together using antioxidant technology to help reverse the signs of damage and also replenish and strengthen your hair. What's left is silky, strong, healthy looking hair that's going to help you feel confident and radiant. For more information you can log on to our site womenshealthmag.com
