Book Review: How to Be a Grown Up by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus
Also a great fall pick is How to Be a Grown Up by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus. The authors of the acclaimed The Nanny Diaries have written a witty novel about a forty one year old woman in the workforce.
Rory McGovern has everything a modern woman wants, a handsome husband (who happens to be a famous actor), adorable children, a part time gig as a stylist and a great apartment in New York City. When husband Blake decides to take a break with life, Rory is left to juggle everything on her own. She is forced to go back to work at a high end digital lifestyle magazines where her bosses are two very young, demanding twenty-something year olds with their own way of doing things.
Thrown into a tech world of jargon Rory doesn’t understand and ridiculous wealthy niche market, Rory struggles with her job and responsibilities. It’s a classic fish-out-of -water tale that rings true for today’s world. A really fun read!
