Hundreds Gather in NYC in Solidarity with Colombia

Protesters oppose tax increase and inequality

More than a hundred people in Times Square have gotten together to protest the proposed tax increase from Colombia President Iván Duque.  The increase would raise food prices and taxes for middle-class workers in hopes to unburden the government from the Covid-19 pandemic’s financial strain. Since then, deadly protests have continued throughout Colombia with at least 26 dead and more than 900 injured.
