Medicine Cabinet Makeover
What to toss and what to stock up on
From the LifeMInute team
When was the last time you gave your medicine cabinet a serious makeover? National Beauty Correspondent Stacy Cox shares how to revamp and restock your medicine cabinet with important household must-haves.
First, grab a trash can. Cox explains, "We have to have a heart-to-heart with our products to figure out which medicines and makeup have expired and are ready to be let go with love." To make the process quick and painless next time, make a habit of taking a permanent marker to new products, noting when you bought them or when they expire, "It takes the thinking out of the equation," says Cox, making the cabinet clean-out easier in the future.
But once you toss out the old and make room for the new, what products make the cut when stocking up? According to Cox, there are two iconic drugstore products that are musts.
The first is one that tackles those flu and cold symptoms. Cox says, "One of the leaders in the field for the last 30 years has been Robitussin." The DM Max liquid-filled capsules are perfect to pack in your briefcase, gym bag or purse, especially if you're hopping on a flight. "It really helps with those cold and cough symptoms," says Cox. And if your symptoms are messing with your sleep, Robitussin DM Max Night Time is going to help you get the zzz's you need when you're just not feeling well. Check out robitussin.com for more info.
Next is "good 'ol Vaseline. I like to think of it as the ultimate wonder jelly." And with this winter's crazy cold weather, the original dry skin healer is exactly what your skin is craving. "This stuff has been around since 1870, and I think the reason is because of it's skin moisture technology," she says. What that means is that it penetrates dry skin deep down and then creates a barrier on skin's surface for a moisturizing one-two punch. Try slathering it on your feet and sliding into your socks for the night to let it work its magic. "It's going to really help with the soles of your feet, your heels and the cuticles on your toes."
A little beauty tip? Take a dab of Vaseline jelly and blend it with your eyeshadow or blush for a fabulous dewy effect, plus the hydration that you need. For more, visit Facebook.com/VaselineUS.
