The Pantone Color of the Year is PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri, a blue hue with a violet-red undertone. It's the first time in the history of the Pantone Color of the Year that a brand-new color fits the bill to reflect the transformation taking place today in our global culture.

Very Peri expresses the “carefree confidence” and “daring curiosity” driving our creative spirit in these trying times where lives are taking a new shape. “The Pantone Color of the Year reflects what is taking place in our global culture, expressing what people are looking for that color can hope to answer,” says Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute.

When selecting the shade, experts at the Pantone Color Institute take into consideration the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyles, playstyles, and socio-economic conditions. This year’s pick was influenced by gaming trends and the expansion of the metaverse, plus the rising artistic community in the digital space.
