The Miracle Club star Laura Linney and director Thaddeus O’Sullivan sang the praises of Maggie Smith at the Tribeca Film Festival world premiere of the film in New York City.
The heartwarming story follows close friends across generations Lily (Maggie Smith), Eileen (Kathy Bates), and Dolly (Agnes O'Casey) from Ballyfermot, a hard-knock community in Dublin, Ireland. When the opportunity arises for the women to win a pilgrimage to Lourdes, France, they jump at the chance. With the help of their priest, the women win the trip and embark on a journey that will change their lives.
Linney plays Chrissie, a woman who later joins the women and causes some tension among them. The award-winning actress gushed about the opportunity to work alongside a cast of high-caliber actors, especially Maggie Smith. “Watching Maggie Smith act has just been one of the greatest joys of my life,” she said.
O’Sullivan expressed the same sentiment. “The biggest miracle of all was working with Maggie Smith.”
The Miracle Club will be released by Sony Pictures Classics on July 14.
