80 for Brady leading ladies; Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sally Field, and Rita Moreno joined their co-star and football legend Tom Brady at the Westwood theater in Los Angeles last night for the movie premiere. Cast members Billy Porter, Harry Hamlin, and Patton Oswalt were also there to chat about the new flick based on the true story of four best friends who embark on a wild trip to see their hero, Tom Brady, in the 2017 Super Bowl. The stars said the fun film is all about friendship and football.
“There's the football. There's the older women. There's the hijinks, there's the romp of it all,” said Sally Field. “Some of the friendships I have that are the people in this film have truly inspired my life.”
Lily Tomlin echoed those sentiments. “It's about female friendship and how that sustains them for years and years,” said Tomlin.
Rita Moreno, who treasures her close friendships, expressed how she became close with her female castmates. “They're so professional. They're very funny. They're smart. They're wise. They are everything a girlfriend should be,” she said. “And we have become friends. That's pretty fabulous.”
As for Tom Brady, he announced his NFL retirement for the second time via Tweet this morning. According to his co-stars, he may have a future in acting ahead of him. “Tom is a very good actor. He listens very carefully,” said Tomlin, while Jane Fonda called him a “natural actor.”
The seven-time Super Bowl champ, who watched the movie for the 9th time at the premiere, said he was nervous showing up on set. “There are many accomplished actors, and they bring so much….They put their heart and soul into it," said Brady. "I kind of come in as an amateur and just admire what they've done over their long career."
You can catch 80 for Brady in theaters on February 3.
