Tribeca Festival hosted the world premiere of Mumford & Sons: The House Band on Friday, June 12, a unique documentary that finds the British folk-rock group stepping into a new role: as a backing band to their musical peers.
Under the direction of longtime friend and collaborator Sam Jones, the documentary follows them as they travel by train across the country, joining forces with 19 guest artists and musical greats, including Noah Kahan, Maggie Rogers, Lainey Wilson, and Darius Rucker.
The doc captures behind the scenes moments of friendship, camaraderie, and collaboration in its highest form, as well as the beauty and spontaneity of a live performance. "We’re a band born out of collaboration” said bassist Ted Dwane, highlighting the importance of communal music-making.
The star-studded red carpet also included appearances by close friends of the band, Matt Damon and James Franco.
