An unthinkable loss... A couple unhinged... Welcome to Meadowland, a gripping family drama starring Olivia Wilde and Luke Wilson, premiering at New York City's Tribeca Film Festival.
"This movie is about a couple who suffers an unimaginable loss; they lose a child," says Mark Feuerstein, who co-stars in the film, "And it's really about how two people in a relationship suffering the same tragedy can have such vastly different reactions to it. You never know what's going to happen. It doesn't follow any kind of formula. And it has amazing performances with Giovanni Ribisi, Juno Temple, Olivia Wilde."
"It was great, because I was producing a project I cared so deeply about," shares Wilde, "Such great material and such an amazing filmmaker. Reed Morano is a new directorial voice, and I was just really lucky to be able to help facilitate her project."
Giovanni Ribisi agrees, "Reed Morano who is the director and cinematographer of the movie...she's just a juggernaut. She's just an incredible person."
As for Morano, she's just as fond of Meadowland's gifted cast. "Oh my God, the cast is incredible. I don't know how I got so lucky," says the director, "The actors went to places I just never knew were possible. It was probably the best experience of my life on set."
And it's not lost on the cast and filmmakers the power of the Tribeca Film Festival in showcasing a movie like Meadowland. "I hope that festivals like the Tribeca Film Festival continue to prove that movies like this that are independent in spirit -- and this particular one is female-driven -- can still exist, can still thrive, can still triumph," says Feuerstein, "And thank God for the Tribeca Film Festival for providing a home for them."
"Well, film festivals are amazing because [films like this] would never be seen otherwise if it were not for this platform for them to be sent out into the world," adds Morano.
