David Soderbergh's latest movie, "Side Effects" by Open Road Films, is a psychological thriller about a New York City couple, Emily and Martin Taylor (Rooney Mara and Channing Tatum) whose lives come undone when Emily's psychiatrist (Jude Law) prescribes her a new anti-anxiety drug that has strange and mysterious side effects. We caught with all of them on the red carpet that the Side Effect premiere, hosted by Open Road with The Cinema Society and Michael Kors at AMC Lincoln Square Theater on January 31, 2013 in New York City. 'He's a doctor who, when you first meet him, is very outwardly mobile and ambitious,' says Jude Law, of his character Dr. Jonathan Banks. 'Not smug, but confident in his ability as a psychiatrist. He meets Rooney Mara as a patient and her case turns out to be full of riddles and he can't quite work out what is at the heart of it,' Law told us. Rooney Mara's character, Emily Taylor, is equally intriguing. 'She's a very complicated girl. Her husband has just been released from prison and she is suffering from depression,' says Mara. To ensure the film had an authentic depiction of a patient going through psychotherapy, director David Soderbergh enlisted Dr. Sasha Bardey, clinical instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at New York University Langone Medical Center, as an adviser. 'My job was to create an environment that was as real as possible so that this thriller could take place,' says Dr. Bardey. Catherine Zeta Jones, who looked stunning on the red carpet escorted by husband Michael Douglas, played the role of another psychiatrist, Dr. Victoria Siebert. 'This is my third time working with Steven Soderbergh and I guess it's going to be the last because he says he's retiring, which breaks my heart. He has a wonderful intimate way of making a movie. He's right behind the lens he operates so you feel like you're completely connected. He works fast and I get home at 3 o'clock to see my kids,' says Catherine Zeta Jones.
