We sat down with Cardioknox's singer Lonnie Angle to find out a little more about the band.
What inspired you to become a musician?
I began playing instruments when I was five years old, and always knew that I wanted to be a performer in some capacity. But I wasn't up on pop culture growing up. My dad had a massive collection of vinyl and CDs--this was back when people still listened to CDs. He loved blues and classic rock. So it wasn't until maybe high school that I started to familiarize myself with what pop culture actually was and meant.
And how did you end up joining a band?
I didn't ever think that I would be a singer in a band. That kind of came to me later in life and it almost found me more than me seeking it out when I started collaborating with Thomas.
What is the meaning behind the band's name?
Cardiknox is actually a play on a family name. Cardinaux is French. American kids always pronounce the silent X. And we just thought it sounded cool.
Did you shoot videos to support the album?
We recently shot the music video for On My Way, the first official music video that we've shot. We wanted it to be one take so you really got the sense of what we were doing. The day of the shoot we were able to do ten complete takes and the one we released was Take 9. So we were very happy that it turned out the way that it did.
What can fans expect from a Cardiknox live show?
Our live show has been an evolving piece of this band and I think an important element to the band. Live I think we want people to have fun. We want it to be energetic and feel what we're talking about, the stories that we're telling. You don't know what you're going to get on any given day in any city.
What's next for the band?
I've got high hopes for Cardiknox's future. I'm loving doing what we're doing and I cannot wait for the world to hear this album and to get to keep playing it. I hope that we can touch people with the music that we wrote.
