The Lei brothers Mikaiah and Anaiah of The Bots have been banging out beats for ten years despite only being 20 and 16 years old (the talented duo already have three albums, two Vans Warped Tours, two Afro-Punk Festival Tours, and countless European tours under their belts). This fall sees the drop of their debut release with FADER Label and their first national headlining tour, which they dished on after their midday jam session at Pianos in New York City.

So how'd they get their start? "In school I wasn't quite popular. I would go home and rehearse and that's what I got good at," says Mikaiah, lead vocalist and bass player, "I didn't think it would really go anywhere but we're benefiting now...doing what we love to do and it's wonderful."

The brothers' new EP, Sincerely Sorry dropped this fall.

"The vibe, it's a pretty straightforward rock and roll EP," says the elder of the two while younger brother Anaiah says "It's diverse it goes from the experimentally, the punky."

They both agree that no matter the genre they want to make the music they want to hear and others as well.

"I like to believe there is a little something for everybody," says Mikaiah.

The boys' talent has led them to perform with the likes of Jack Black and Kyle Gass of Tenacious D.

"We've been blessed and we get to perform with many wonderful musicians," says Mikaiah, "It's a dream come true I couldn't think of anything better."

Despite their success so far, the rising stars want to stay accessible to fans.

"Message us, write back, do something! I will write back. We want a conversation," says Anaiah.

Mikaiah chimes in, "Or when you come to our shows come talk to us right after we're off. We love meeting up with people."

When it comes to the future the Lei duo only see themselves growing as artists as they continue to work and put out music.

"I don't see how it could go wrong," says Mikaiah, "We write our songs with a passion, a love and a heart we put into it and we hope people enjoy what we are doing."
