With a tour, Broadway play, year-round performances and new album in the works, it’s safe to say Deana Martin has fully followed in her dad, Dean Martin’s footsteps. Still performing her own music and her famous father’s songs, the talented singer sat down with us at our studios to share her many memories growing up including the advice “uncle" Frank Sinatra gave her as well as what she’s up to and her thoughts on the controversy around her father’s Christmas classic, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”
What was it like being the daughter of such a legend? Deana says, “It was fabulous, because he was so much fun.”
And speaking of legends…when it comes to John Legend and Kelly Clarkson changing the words of Dad’s Christmas classic, Deana is not a fan. “It’s ridiculous,” she says, “Don’t ruin a beautiful, perfectly fine song.”
However, she says her father would have laughed the whole thing off. The singer ultimately finds the song “empowering” and says she will continue to sing the song the rest of her life.
