Steven Curtis Chapman has been a leading light in the world of Contemporary Christian Music since the late 80’s. The Kentucky native’s unique sound sprinkles in elements of Country, Folk, Bluegrass and Pop which makes him hard to classify.
He has recorded more than 20 albums, has five Grammy wins with more than 10 million albums sold and 10 records that have achieved either Gold or Platinum status on his already lengthy and still growing resume.
Chapman's latest offering Deeper Roots: Where The Bluegrass Grows on New Day Records was released in March and is a return to the music of his youth, that he was exposed to by his musician father.
The album is a mostly acoustic affair with traditional instruments such as the banjo, dobro, mandolin and acoustic guitar. According to Chapman, "it is a celebration of family, a celebration of faith and a celebration of music” that he loves so much.
When not in the studio or out on the road the energetic singer/songwriter also finds time with his non-profit, Show Hope, which he established with his wife in 2003 to help families that want to adopt, but can't afford to.
Keep an eye out for his Christmas tour coming later this year.
