The Trends: Pamella Roland, Charlotte Ronson, Elle Fashion Next, VPL, Jill Stuart
Many of the Spring 2013 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week collections have been celebrating a woman's inner strength and seductive powers. "I was inspired by faded Hollywood glamour and couture lingerie," says designer Jill Stuart. As for designer Charlotte Ronson, she found the curves and the force of ocean waves to be very moving. "The collection this season is inspired by water's elements. So, it's, you know, the tranquility but also the strength of the waves. A lot of the silhouettes are very clean," she told us. Designer Pamella Roland also used sleek silhouettes in her Spring 2013 fashion show. "It's a lot of simple lines. A lot of black and white. You'll see we have some bursts of color of yellow and royal blue. Silhouettes are going to be very sleek, very modern, very streamlined," says designer Pamella Roland. And we even some sporty looks this fashion week. "It's a nod to the Olympics. It like these soft colors juxtaposed with like an athletic, more sporty feel," says VPL designer Victoria Bartlett. Seasoned designers weren't the only ones to show their latest spring trends. Young FIT students competed on the catwalk at the Elle Fashion Next Spring 2013 fashion show for coveted grants and recognition. "It's the third year of Fashion Next. It's Elle's opportunity to go out to a design school in this country to give them a chance to really upside their business," says Joe Zee, Creative Director of Elle.
