The 2026 Winter Olympics officially kick off today with a spectacular opening ceremony at Milan’s historic San Siro Stadium. The ceremony launches the Games, which run through Feb. 22, and features the lighting of the Olympic cauldron. In a first for the Winter Games, the opening ceremony includes the lighting of two cauldrons: one at San Siro and a simultaneous, symbolic lighting at both the Arco della Pace in Milan and Piazza Dibona in Cortina d’Ampezzo, highlighting the dual-host nature of the Games. While the opening ceremony takes place today, preliminary competitions in sports such as ski jumping, curling, and hockey began earlier this week. The ceremony will also feature performances by Mariah Carey, Andrea Bocelli, Laura Pausini, and other artists. Live coverage begins Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, with a primetime encore airing at 8 p.m. ET.
New England Patriots face off against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX Sunday
The New England Patriots will face the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX this Sunday, Feb. 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. ET. The championship matchup pits two 14–3 powerhouses against each other for the Vince Lombardi Trophy. It marks the Patriots’ 12th Super Bowl appearance and a chance to extend their record with a seventh title, while the Seahawks make their fourth trip to the NFL’s biggest stage. The game also revisits one of the league’s most memorable Super Bowls, as New England edged Seattle 28–24 in Super Bowl XLIX. This time, the spotlight shifts to a quarterback showdown between Patriots rookie Drake Maye, the second-youngest QB to ever start a Super Bowl, and Seahawks veteran Sam Darnold. Fans can watch the action live on NBC, with the Apple Music Halftime Show headlined by Bad Bunny.
Halle Berry confirms engagement to Van Hunt after nearly six years together
Halle Berry has officially confirmed her engagement to musician Van Hunt following nearly six years of dating. The Oscar-winning actress shared the news during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night, putting an end to months of public speculation. Confusion had lingered since a 2025 interview in which Hunt jokingly suggested his proposal was “on hold.” Berry clarified the remarks, saying, “I did not say ‘no.’ We just don’t have a date. But of course I said yes — I would marry him!” During the appearance, Berry also showed off her distinctive engagement ring, which features a chunky gold band with black detailing and a large round center diamond. The couple has been together since 2019 and made their relationship Instagram official in September 2020.
