Sting sued by former The Police bandmates over unpaid royalties
Guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland, ex bandmates of Sting in The Police, are suing him for unpaid royalties over their 1983 hit song "Every Breath You Take". The lawsuit, filed in London, alleges that Summers and Copeland were never properly credited as songwriters for their contributions to the track and have not received millions in royalties they are owed. The complaint, filed under "general commercial contracts and arrangements," lists Sting (under his birth name, Gordon Matthew Sumner) and his company, Magnetic Publishing Limited, as defendants.
