Ariana Grande was a major winner, securing the prestigious Moon Person awards for Video of the Year, Best Longform Video, and Best Pop for her work on "Brighter Days Ahead." Lady Gaga received the coveted Artist of the Year award and was also recognized for Best Collaboration alongside Bruno Mars for "Die With a Smile." The iconic Mariah Carey was presented with the distinguished Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award by Ariana Grande herself. The tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne included a performance by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, along with Yungblud and Nuno Bettencourt. They performed a medley featuring Osbourne's solo hit, "Crazy Train," the Black Sabbath ballad "Changes," and his solo track "Mama, I'm Coming Home."
Supertramp frontman Rick Davies dead at 81 after battle with cancer
The esteemed co-founder, singer, and songwriter for the iconic British rock band Supertramp, passed away peacefully at his East Hampton, New York home on Saturday. Davies had bravely battled multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer, for over a decade. A pivotal figure in Supertramp's enduring legacy, he co-founded the band with Roger Hodgson in 1969 and remained its sole constant member throughout its history. As the group's primary songwriter and keyboardist, Davies was instrumental in crafting some of their most beloved hits, including "Goodbye Stranger" from their Grammy-nominated album, Breakfast in America, which boasts sales exceeding 20 million copies worldwide. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sue Davies, whom he married in 1977.
Star Trek Day is celebrated
Trekkies honor the groundbreaking sci-fi hit show today on the anniversary of the broadcast premiere of Star Trek: The Original Series on this date in 1966. The original series famously starred William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk, Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock, George Takei as Hikaru Sulu and a diverse ensemble in their iconic roles.
