Artemis II astronauts complete historic moon flyby, head back to Earth
The Artemis II mission continues to make history. At 7:07 p.m. EDT on April 6, the Orion spacecraft Integrity surpassed the Apollo 13 distance record, traveling farther from Earth than any human crew before. The astronauts spent about seven hours observing the Moon’s far side, witnessing an “Earthrise” as they reconnected with Mission Control after a planned 40-minute blackout. While behind the Moon, they also experienced a rare total solar eclipse lasting nearly an hour. During the flyby, the crew proposed naming two newly observed craters “Integrity” and “Carroll,” honoring Commander Reid Wiseman’s late wife. Now on the final leg of their mission, the crew is set to splash down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego at 8:07 p.m. EDT (5:07 p.m. PDT) on April 10.
Offset in stable condition after being shot outside Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL
Rapper Offset is in stable condition after being shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Authorities say he suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the valet area shortly after 7 p.m. and is receiving medical care. Rapper Lil Tjay was arrested following a fight that occurred before the shooting and charged with disorderly conduct, though his attorney says he was not involved in the gunfire. Another person was detained, and police continue investigating. The incident comes after the 2022 killing of Takeoff, Offset’s Migos groupmate, in Houston.
