Artemis II heads toward moon after spending a day orbiting Earth
After completing its first 24 hours circling Earth, Artemis II is now on its way to the Moon. The Orion spacecraft carrying the crew has traveled more than 70,000 miles from Earth and is about 181,000 miles from the Moon, moving at nearly 5,000 mph. The crew spent their first day in high Earth orbit testing critical life-support systems before firing Orion’s main engine for the translunar injection burn at 7:49 p.m. EDT on April 2, sending the spacecraft onto its lunar trajectory. In the coming days, the astronauts will continue monitoring onboard systems and may even catch a glimpse of a rare “sungrazer” comet as it passes near the Sun around April 5. Orion is expected to reach the Moon’s vicinity shortly after, making a close flyby at about 4,600 miles above the surface. During this flyby, the crew is expected to surpass the record for the farthest distance humans have ever traveled from Earth—set during Apollo 13 at 248,655 miles. Artemis II is the first crewed mission to travel toward the Moon since Apollo 17 in December 1972. The 10-day mission will conclude with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.

Judge dismisses most of Blake Lively’s claims against Justin Baldoni
A New York federal judge has dismissed the majority of Blake Lively’s sexual harassment claims against her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. In a lengthy ruling, the court threw out 10 of her 13 claims, finding she did not qualify as an employee under federal law due to her independence as a producer and lead actor. Other claims were dismissed because the alleged incidents did not occur in California. The judge also addressed a disputed on-set moment, noting that actors are given creative flexibility within agreed scenes. Three claims remain and will move forward to trial, currently set for May 18. The case will now focus largely on allegations that Baldoni’s company and PR team carried out a retaliatory smear campaign after Lively raised concerns.
