Chris Brown arrested in England over 2023 nightclub assault
The Grammy-winner was taken into custody on Thursday at the Lowry Hotel in Salford, England over the alleged assault. The attack reportedly took place at the Tape night club in London's Mayfair in 2023. Brown is accused of causing “grievous bodily harm” to music producer Abe Diaw when he allegedly beat him over the head with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 Tequila. Diaw first took legal action over the incident back in October of 2023, 8 months after it occurred. Since his arrest, Brown has attended a court hearing in which a judge decided he will remain in custody until at least mid-June. A second hearing is expected to take place on June 13.
James Van Der Beek joins Legally Blonde prequel cast amid cancer battle
The 48-year-old actor confirmed his casting in the highly anticipated series on Instagram, writing “Super excited to join this awesome cast in such a fun project. Almost as excited as my wife and girls are that I’m doing this.” The news comes just six months after Van Der Beek shared his diagnosis with colorectal cancer with fans, making this his first role since its discovery. The award-winning actor will reportedly star in the recurring role of Dean Wilson, the city’s new mayoral candidate and school district superintendent. Elle is set to make its debut Summer of 2026 on Prime Video.
Rihanna releases first song in three years, “Friend of Mine" for Smurfs Soundtrack
The 37-year-old Grammy-winner has officially broken a multi-year hiatus from releasing new music with the release of the new song. “Friend of Mine" will be featured in the upcoming Smurfs movie, in which Rihanna voices Smurfette. The animated film’s soundtrack will also feature the music of other a-list stars such as DJ Khaled and Cardi B. The film, which also stars John Goodman, James Corden, Nick Offerman, and Sandra Oh, is set to debut in theaters on July 18.
